Phiphat acknowledged that the government formation deal is finalized as reported, confirmed the new government will be established before Songkran, expressed no concern about leaked clips, and insisted there are no secrets within the Bhumjaithai Party.
At 09:30 on 24 February 2026 at the Government House, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, and a leader of the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT), gave an interview regarding rumors that the Bhumjaithai Party has closed a government formation deal with 300 seats, saying he did not know and suggested asking the party's executive committee.
When asked if having the major party Pheu Thai (PT) alone with small parties is sufficient, Mr. Phiphat said that question should be directed to the party leader and executive committee of Bhumjaithai. Regarding whether there have been discussions about ministerial positions, Mr. Phiphat said the news reports are roughly accurate; there may have been talks, but he preferred not to answer to avoid overstepping his role. When pressed whether the political deal to form the government is finalized, Mr. Phiphat replied, "It probably is, as the media reports are quite close to the truth."
On the question whether the new government will begin work before Songkran, Mr. Phiphat said it must, because Thailand cannot wait any longer. Everything is waiting for the new government to move forward, especially the economy which is at a critical point, as well as global political tensions. Therefore, forming the government as soon as possible is essential to implement Bhumjaithai's campaign promises and help Thailand overcome these challenges quickly.
However, when asked if Bhumjaithai is concerned about social media leaks of clips related to the government formation deal, Mr. Phiphat stated, that forming a government is a matter that can be made public. He believes the Bhumjaithai leader is not worried about such clips because government formation must be transparent. He confirmed he is not concerned and does not know what clips are being referred to, but he is confident there are no secrets within the Bhumjaithai Party. .
