Anutin Denies Government Deal Completed, Emphasizes Negotiations Have Not Started, Asserts I Am the One Negotiating

Anutin denies the government deal is finished, emphasizing it has not yet begun and declares, "I am the one negotiating." He says he has not heard the rumors about a 'traffic light' coalition forming a competing government.

At 11:50 a.m. on 24 Feb 2026 at the Government House, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, was interviewed regarding Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and a Bhumjaithai Party leader, who said the government formation deal was complete. When asked who made that statement, the media replied it was Phiphat saying the deal was done with 300 votes. Anutin responded with a "hmm" and teased the media, "Are you talking about my side?" He said he had not spoken with Phiphat yet, then pointed to himself and said, "I'm the one negotiating." When asked for a summary, Anutin said no, that vote counting is still ongoing with new party-list and constituency results, and the Election Commission has already released updates. Therefore, there is no need to discuss any deals yet. Regarding whether he still insists on voting for the Prime Minister first before discussing positions, he said they are waiting for everything to stabilize. Currently, they are only estimating how many MPs there are, and if things remain unsettled, no one can negotiate because negotiations would be unstable and pointless. When asked if anything has been opened yet, Anutin said no. When asked if the Election Commission has reported progress or when results will be announced, Anutin said the Election Commission does not report to the government and is independent. When asked about concerns over election invalidation claims due to barcode issues, Anutin said, "I don't know."

When asked about rumors of a 'traffic light' coalition government involving the Pheu Thai, Kla, and Prachachon parties competing to push Bhumjaithai into opposition, Anutin did not respond and only chuckled softly. When asked again about a competing 'traffic light' coalition with a majority aiming to topple the government, Anutin laughed and said, "Really?" When asked if he had heard about a big surprise expected after 25 Feb, when Captain Thamanat Prompao, chairman of the Kla Party advisory board, returns from abroad, Anutin said, "I have not heard." When asked if he fears any exposés or surprises, Anutin asked back, "What do you mean by fear?"
