The Election Commission unanimously resolved to order a recount of votes for 9 polling stations in 5 provinces after detecting suspicious behavior by officials, including reading scores without showing ballots and marking scores beyond the allowed number.
On 24 February 2026, the Election Commission (EC) issued press release No. 188/2569 revealing results from a meeting reviewing reports from the elections held on 1 and 8 February 2026. Following concerns raised over a lack of transparency in the conduct of polling station officials in several areas, the EC found factual evidence in several cases: incomplete posting of candidate lists against regulations, reading scores without openly displaying ballots, unclear marking of scores, and marking scores exceeding actual amounts. These actions could directly impact election results, prompting the order for a recount to ensure honesty and fairness.
The areas ordered for recount cover 5 provinces, 8 districts, and 9 polling stations: Suphanburi Province (4 stations) in District 1 (Sanam Chai Subdistrict), District 2 (Long Krat Subdistrict, Bang Ta Thoen Subdistrict, Ban Chang Subdistrict); Chanthaburi Province (2 stations) in District 1 (Plubpla Subdistrict) and District 2 (Thung Benja Subdistrict); Bangkok (1 station) in District 6, Din Daeng Subdistrict; Trang Province (1 station) in District 4, Kantang Subdistrict; and Samut Sakhon Province (1 station) in District 3, Om Noi Subdistrict.
The Election Commission has instructed related agencies in all 5 provinces to complete the recount by 1 March 2026 to report the results publicly and restore confidence in the election process. Citizens can obtain more information through hotline 1444 or the EC’s official website.
