New Alternative Party Suspends Tae Mongkolkit, Who Believes It Is Due to Election Nullification Complaint

The New Alternative Party has suspended "Tae Rama 7," citing preservation of the party’s image, and ordered him not to act on behalf of the party. He believes the party is unsettled due to his petition to declare the election null and void.

On 24 February 2026, Rachen Trakoolwiang, leader of the New Alternative Party, signed Party Order No. 3/2569 to suspend the duties of the party secretary-general. The main point was to temporarily suspend Mongkolkit Suksintharanon from performing his duties as secretary-general.

The party document cited the reason for the order as preserving the party’s image and ideology. It stated that since Mongkolkit was appointed secretary-general to manage administrative tasks and coordinate party affairs per policy, to ensure smooth and efficient operations and maintain the party’s good image and ideology, the party leader invoked party regulations, Article 37, to issue this order.

  1. It orders a temporary suspension of Mongkolkit from his duties as party secretary-general.

  2. During the suspension period, he is forbidden from any actions in the name of the secretary-general or from engaging in activities that could legally or politically bind the New Alternative Party.

  3. An authorized representative or delegate under the party’s regulations will perform the duties in his place until further notice.

This order took effect from 21 February 2026 onward. The announcement caused a significant stir in political circles, as Mongkolkit is a key and widely recognized figure in the New Alternative Party.

Recently, Mongkolkit commented that the suspension likely stems from his recent complaints submitted to several independent agencies, including the Ombudsman and the Administrative Court, requesting the last election be declared void. He believes his active efforts have caused party leaders concern, fearing these actions might affect the party’s overall image and lead the Election Commission to refuse to certify the party’s MPs, whose official results are still pending.

However, Mongkolkit denied rumors about quitting the party, affirming he has not resigned from the New Alternative Party. He said the suspension is an internal party order affecting only his role as secretary-general. As for his political future, he said it depends on further discussions with party management.
