Army Races to Extinguish Fire at Ammunition Depot, Investigates Possible Sabotage

The Army is urgently working to control a fire at the ammunition depot of the 21st Border Patrol Police in Surin Province and asks the public to avoid the area. Major General Winthai Suwaree revealed there have been no reports of sabotage; the cause is still under investigation.


On 24 February 2026 at approximately 19:30, the Army received a report from the 2nd Army Region about a fire incident inside the ammunition storage of the 21st Border Patrol Police Company located on Surin's bypass road, Mueang District, Surin Province.


The Army, through the 25th Military Circle, deployed operational personnel and fire trucks to support related agencies and local authorities to promptly control and contain the fire. Officers were also assigned to manage traffic and ensure safety around the area. The public is advised to avoid using Surin's bypass road for their safety.


Regarding suspicions of sabotage, Army spokesperson Major General Winthai Suwaree stated that the investigation is ongoing and no confirmed cause has been reported. He urged the public to rely on official information and be cautious about sharing unverified news to prevent unnecessary panic in society.
