Teacher Thany Denies Signing Statement of the Working Group for Gender Equality, Emphasizes Neutral Role

Thanyawat stresses he did not sign the statement from the Working Group for Gender Equality. He reveals that lawyer Jam sent a message in the evening, but he saw the statement was already posted. He emphasizes his wish to maintain a neutral role and work independently, ready to collaborate with all parties to advance equality.

On 24 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Thanyawat Kamluangwat, former party-list MP of the Prachachon Party, posted on Facebook to clarify that regarding the statement from the Working Group for Gender Equality of the Prachachon Party dated 24 February 2026, expressing disappointment about the candidate selection process in Maha Sarakham province, which mentioned his name as a co-signer, he wishes to clarify the matter publicly as follows.

1. Current status and role: Thanyawat currently works as a public policy and human rights advocate, focusing on advancing gender equality through knowledge, research, projects, and public communication.

His future work will be conducted independently, not affiliated with or representing any political party, and he is ready to work equally with all sectors, including all political parties.

2. Regarding signing the statement: Thanyawat has not confirmed signing the statement. Previously, he was contacted by Sasinan Thammanitinun about occasionally providing advisory support, which he is generally willing to offer to any political party if it benefits advancing gender equality in Thai society.

However, in this case, he did not officially confirm joining the statement. The request to sign was sent late at night, and when he later realized, the statement had already been published with the list of names.

Thanyawat has no disagreement with the principles concerning candidate screening or standing against sexual violence but must clarify he did not confirm signing on behalf of the party's working group because his academic, research, and future funding activities require maintaining independence and treating all sectors equally.

This is to provide accurate understanding.
