
From 1 January to 22 February 2026, the government is pleased that nearly 6 million foreign tourists visited Thailand, generating close to 300 billion baht in revenue. The top five countries of origin were China, Malaysia, Russia, India, and South Korea.
On 25 February 2026, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that the government is pleased. The overall tourism situation from 1 January to 22 February 2026. During this period, Thailand. had a cumulative total of 5,947,434 foreign tourists. These tourists spent approximately 293.119 billion baht.
The top five countries by number of tourists were.
Ms. Airin added that during the past week (16–22 February 2026), there were 879,587 foreign tourists, a decrease of 2,969 people or 0.34% from the previous week. This averages to 125,655 foreign tourists entering Thailand per day. Tourists from Malaysia and Russia increased by 33.02% and 7.57% respectively compared to the previous week, driven by travel during school holidays. Particularly, Malaysian tourists reached 110,000 in the past eight weeks, up 33.02% from the prior week.
Meanwhile, tourists from South Korea, India, and China decreased by 18.19%, 10.78%, and 0.68% respectively from the previous week. Chinese tourists slowed after the final days of their extended holiday but still numbered over 200,000. The top five foreign tourist groups were: China 199,078, Malaysia 111,581, Russia 60,442, India 42,893, and South Korea 34,318.
“For this week (23 February - 1 March 2026), foreign tourist arrivals are expected to stabilize, supported by factors such as measures to stimulate Chinese tourism, changing travel patterns of Chinese tourists shifting from Japan to South Korea and ASEAN countries, promotion of the Trusted Thailand safety image, government ease-of-travel policies facilitating entry to Thailand, elimination of the TM6 arrival card, and encouragement of airlines to increase flight frequencies.”
