Biography of Mallika Boonmitrakuun Mahasuk, former Democrat Party MP, who later became a TikTok live streamer and influencer analyzing political events, and recently announced her independent candidacy for Bangkok Governor.

On 25 February 2026, reporters reported that after Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, completes his four-year term on 21 May 2026, the Bangkok Election Commission will open applications for the gubernatorial election from 25 to 29 May 2026, with the election expected to be held on 5 July 2026.

The clearest candidate so far is Dr. Mallika Boonmitrakuun Mahasuk. She is a former party-list Member of Parliament for the Democrat Party, who revealed during a segment of the Mallika SHOW on Naewna Online that she will run for Bangkok Governor in the 2026 election.

Biography of Dr. Mallika Boonmitrakuun Mahasuk. Her nickname is Ting, or Molly as called by friends in the media industry. She was born on 22 February 1973 and is currently 53 years old. She is originally from Chiang Muan District, Phayao Province, and is of Tai Lue descent through her mother and maternal grandparents.

She graduated from Pong Ratchadaphisek School and Phayao Pittayakom School.

Bachelor's degree in Humanities from Ramkhamhaeng University.

Master's degree from the College of Social Innovation, Rangsit University.

Doctorate from the College of Social Innovation, specializing in Social Leadership, Business, and Politics at Rangsit University.

Dr. Mallika Boonmitrakuun Mahasuk. She is a former national cyclist for Thailand and an amateur shooter with the Special Forces Shooting Club.  

Work history.

Dr. Mallika was a presenter and news anchor on ITV. She later resigned from ITV and ran for election in 2005 with the Mahachon Party, then in 2007 and 2011 with the Democrat Party.

She served as a member of the National Assembly in 2006 after the mid-year coup and was assistant secretary to several ministers, including Mom Rajawongse Sukumphan Boriphat, Minister of Culture; Teera Salakphet, Minister of Culture; and Juti Krairiksh, Minister of Information and Communication Technology.

In the 2019 general election, Dr. Mallika ran as a party-list MP candidate for the Democrat Party and was appointed advisor to the Minister of Commerce, Jurin Laksanawisit. In 2022, when Chaiyos Jiramethakorn resigned as a party-list MP, Dr. Mallika was elevated to replace him.

In the 2023 general election, Dr. Mallika was number 19 on the Democrat Party's party-list candidates. On 21 September 2023, she announced her resignation from the Democrat Party and decided to take a political hiatus.

After stepping away from politics, Dr. Mallika became a TikTok live streamer selling products online and regularly engaging with social media users through live broadcasts. She gained many fans and followers due to her lively and personable discussions analyzing current political events.
