The government congratulates "Khanom Krok" for being named the No. 1 Thai dessert of 2026 by TasteAtlas, highlighting that the charm of Thai sweets extends beyond the country's borders. Other Thai desserts such as mango sticky rice, Khanom Chan, and Lod Chong were also ranked.
On 25 February 2026, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the government congratulates the success of "Khanom Krok" a traditional Thai dessert that has been ranked as the "No. 1 Best Thai Dessert of 2026" by the global food website TasteAtlas. This renowned international food platform, recognized as a global food atlas, ranked the best Thai desserts of 2026 based on review scores from consumers and food critics worldwide.
Ms. Airin stated that the ranking results reflect that the appeal of Thai sweets is not limited to the domestic market but has captured the hearts of people from many cultures around the world. Khanom Krok, with its unique characteristics—the fragrant richness of coconut milk, crispy outside yet soft inside texture, and meticulous preparation—reflects Thai wisdom passed down through generations.
In addition to Khanom Krok, other popular Thai desserts and dishes that made the list include mango sticky rice, Khanom Chan, Lod Chong, Ruam Mitr, grass jelly, fried bananas, and Pathongko. All these dishes showcase the diversity of Thai culinary culture and demonstrate the potential of Thai cuisine as an important Soft Power of the country.
"The success of Khanom Krok this time is the success of all Thai people, especially communities, entrepreneurs, and custodians of Thai dessert wisdom. It confirms that Thai sweets are a living cultural heritage, an integral part of Thai identity and lifestyle that can powerfully convey the country’s story through flavor. The government, through the Ministry of Culture, is committed to promoting Thailand’s cultural capital to create both emotional value and economic worth. Thai food and desserts are not only a source of cultural pride but also a key mechanism driving the creative economy, tourism, and sustainable global image-building for Thailand."
