Parliament Ready to Receive New MPs on 26 Feb, Open for Registration Daily Including Holidays

The parliament has prepared the area to receive registration of new MPs on 26 February, open daily from 08:30 to 16:30. Awaiting the Election Commission to certify 95% of MPs before preparing to vote for the parliamentary speaker.

At 14:00 on 25 February 2026, at the Parliament building, Mr. Siroj Paethapan, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, inspected the readiness of the area and checked equipment in the meeting room on floor B1, designated as the reception area for the 27th group of MPs who will come to register with the Secretariat of the House of Representatives on 26 February, after the Election Commission announced the certification of 396 constituency MPs.

Mr. Siroj said the Secretariat of the House of Representatives is 80% ready to receive MPs' registrations on 26 February. The venue and systems are nearly complete, with a minor obstacle being the MPs' ID cards, which are being expedited to be ready on time. If not ready on the first day, they will be sent afterward. Additionally, a reception room is arranged to reduce congestion when MPs arrive in large groups or by party, dividing registration into rounds of 40 people each. MPs are asked to fill out information via an e-form in advance for faster verification. Regarding traffic convenience, security has prepared parking spaces in front of floors B1 and B2 with staff to guide MPs from parking to the registration area.

Mr. Siroj stated registration will be open daily from 08:30 to 16:30, including Saturdays and Sundays. The duration depends on when the Election Commission certifies the party-list MPs. If party-list MPs are not yet certified but all constituency MPs have registered, registration may pause temporarily. The first parliamentary session to elect the speaker depends on when the Election Commission certifies over 95% of MPs. Once certified, the parliament will coordinate with the Cabinet Secretariat for the Prime Minister to request the King to open the first session within 15 days, as per the constitution's article 121. The temporary speaker for the vote will be the most senior MP present in the session.
