Peoples Party Demands Election Commission Explain Rush to Certify 396 Constituency MPs Amid Widespread Allegations

The People's Party legal team questioned the Election Commission's rush to certify the results for 396 constituency MPs despite widespread public doubts about transparency, asking why they were hurrying when more than a month remains in the legal timeframe.

On 25 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Teera Suthewarangkul, prospective party-list MP, and the People's Party legal team expressed their views on the Election Commission's resolution to certify 396 constituency MPs. They noted that this action was unusually rushed amid objections from various sectors.

Mr. Teera stated that, legally, the Election Commission should certify results only after preliminary consideration confirms the election was "honest and fair." However, ongoing disputes and evidence of irregularities continue to surface. This raises questions about what criteria the Commission used to determine confidence and why there was an urgent need to certify results when the law allows over 30-40 more days (within a 60-day limit) for review.

"The Election Commission must clearly answer the public and media about why they rushed to announce results despite widespread skepticism and numerous unresolved complaints," Mr. Teera said.

Furthermore, the People's Party legal team revealed that multiple parties have submitted petitions to the Administrative and Constitutional Courts to examine the legality of this election. It remains important to closely monitor whether these judicial reviews will affect the Election Commission's recently announced certification.
