At 09:40 on 26 February 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Pateungtharn Shinawatra, former Prime Minister, accompanied by Mr. Pitak Suksawat, her spouse, traveled to visit Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister, at Klong Prem Central Prison. This was the 43rd visit, with Mr. Thaksin currently detained for 5 months and 16 days.
At 10:45, Ms. Pateungtharn and Mr. Pitak left the prison after visiting Mr. Thaksin. Reporters asked her, “What was discussed with your father regarding parole today?” Ms. Pateungtharn replied, “Nothing specific. It should follow the due process. During the visit, we talked about general topics, including a trip abroad that I went on with my family.”
When asked further, “Has Mr. Thaksin decided to step away from politics yet?” Ms. Pateungtharn answered, “Oh, he has been in there for six months already. He probably has stepped away. There’s no question about it.” Then, Ms. Pateungtharn greeted supporters who came to show encouragement before getting into her car to leave.
