
The Bhumjaithai Party has enlisted support from the New Opportunity and Palang Pracharath parties to vote for Anutin as prime minister, raising the vote count to 292. They revealed they share the same working approach. Whether Kla Tham and Democrat parties will join is pending a decision after the March 8 party seminar.
At 11:00 a.m. on 26 February 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chaiyachon Chidchop, Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, Ms. Nan Boonthida Somchai, Bhumjaithai Party spokesperson; Mr. Songsak Thongsri, party leader; and Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Bhumjaithai MP for Chonburi, together with five MPs from the Palang Pracharath Party, led by Ms. Treenuch Thienthong, acting leader of Palang Pracharath, as well as Ms. Rosarin Saranket, MP for Uttaradit Constituency 2 from the New Opportunity Party, held a joint press conference at the Bhumjaithai Party. Ms. Nan Boonthida stated, Today, Bhumjaithai Party is honored to receive confirmation of support from the Palang Pracharath and New Opportunity parties for Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of Bhumjaithai, as prime minister, adding six more votes.
Ms. Treenuch said that Palang Pracharath was invited by respected senior members of Bhumjaithai Party, with whom they have long discussed matters, and Palang Pracharath has resolved to support Bhumjaithai’s work, as the party enjoys strong public support as a core party. Therefore, Palang Pracharath is pleased to back Bhumjaithai in governing the country. Palang Pracharath focuses on policies concerning security and addressing the people's hardships.
Meanwhile, Ms. Rosarin, daughter of former MP Saranyawut Saranket for Uttaradit Constituency 2, expressed great pleasure and honor that Bhumjaithai invited New Opportunity to join the government. She believes their ideologies align, whether it be Bhumjaithai or other coalition parties, aiming to solve problems and improve the economy for the people. New Opportunity has resolved to support Anutin as prime minister, with party leader Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat having already spoken with senior Bhumjaithai members.
Regarding whether more small parties will join, the Bhumjaithai spokesperson said that, as previously confirmed, official numbers will be announced by the parties themselves. When asked whether it is clear that Kla Tham and Democrat parties will not join the government, the Bhumjaithai spokesperson replied that it is not yet time to say, because initially, Bhumjaithai must report itself first and hold a party seminar, after which further talks will follow. Asked if the Bhumjaithai party seminar will finalize decisions, the spokesperson said to wait and see.
, When asked if the current total of over 290 votes is sufficient, the Bhumjaithai spokesperson revealed that normally the House of Representatives bases decisions on majority votes and there is no fixed number required. Regarding whether the small parties, which together have more than 30 votes, will receive ministerial positions, Mr. Chaiyachon said that the party leader will finalize this after the party seminar on 8 March. ."}],
