Mongkolkit Announces Resignation from New Alternative Party, Launches Bangkok Can Fly Group to Contest Bangkok Governor Election

"Tae Mongkolkit" announced his resignation from the New Alternative Party and launched the "Bangkok Can Fly" group, recruiting like-minded individuals to prepare for the Bangkok governor and 50 district councilor elections after being suspended by the party.

On 26 February 2026 at 11:30 a.m., Mongkolkit Suksintharanon, party secretary-general and party-list MP of the New Alternative Party, posted on his personal Facebook that On Monday, 2 March 2026 at 9:30 a.m., I will go to the Election Commission to resign from membership of the New Alternative Party.

Earlier, on the evening of 25 February, Mongkolkit live-streamed to his followers announcing the establishment of the "Bangkok Can Fly" group to prepare for the Bangkok governor election in mid-2026. The group is accepting applications for political positions including Bangkok governor, deputy governor, advisory team, secretary, and 50 district councilor candidates. Interested individuals can submit their resumes via Line ID: oomim.krissayakorn.

Reporters noted that this political move by Mongkolkit follows Rachen Trakulwiang, leader of the New Alternative Party, signing an order on 24 February 2026 to temporarily suspend Mongkolkit from his role as party secretary-general. The order also prohibits him from political activities or any actions that could legally or politically bind the New Alternative Party during the suspension period.
