Krit Chonnaphat received his MP certificate, affirmed he is unafraid of the legal case and ready for scrutiny, emphasized he is not a weakness reducing the chance of joining a coalition with the Bhumjaithai Party, and said he is waiting for senior leaders of both sides to discuss the coalition deal.
On 26 Feb 2026, Mr. Chonnaphat Naksua, Member of Parliament for Songkhla Province, Constituency 4, from the Kla Party, came to receive his MP election certificate from the Election Commission, as he has commitments next week and therefore needed to report to Parliament today.
Asked about his priorities for his second term as MP, Mr. Chonnaphat said there is much ongoing work in the area. He is monitoring government trends and believes his strength lies in his work. He trusts that by focusing on the community and serving the people well, they will continue to receive support.
Regarding the legal case, Mr. Chonnaphat confirmed he is ready to undergo all procedures. He acknowledged that public figures are subject to thorough scrutiny and welcomed investigations. He knows some agencies have already begun reviewing his case and is eager to prove his innocence amid disputed points. He is waiting to be summoned by investigating bodies, noting that the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has classified it as a special case. He reaffirmed his readiness to provide clarifications.
Asked if he fears the case might tarnish Kla Party's image, Mr. Chonnaphat said that being in this position requires accepting scrutiny. He has faced such situations continuously and is only concerned about the feelings of local people. When asked if he considers himself a weak link reducing Kla Party's coalition prospects with Bhumjaithai, he denied this, citing close ties with Bhumjaithai. He also mentioned his involvement with a football team and admiration for former politician and Buriram United football club chairman Newin Chidchob. He awaits senior leaders to discuss and believes the talks will achieve their goals.
When asked if the goal is to be part of the governing coalition, Mr. Chonnaphat expressed confidence in the good relations between senior leaders, recalling their joint efforts in the 26th Parliament. He said he had just ended a phone call with Col. Thammanat Prompao, Kla Party's advisory chairman, informing him of receiving the certificate. Col. Thammanat advised waiting for the official certification results. Both parties are awaiting confirmation, and once received, talks are expected. Col. Thammanat also encouraged him and asked if he is ready for the legal process, to which he affirmed readiness.
Asked if not joining the coalition government would affect his local work, Mr. Chonnaphat said it would not. He believes that if all agencies are willing to assist, representatives can effectively serve their constituents.
After the interview, reporters asked if there might be 'snakes' (traitors) within Kla Party. Mr. Chonnaphat responded, “No. If anyone leaves, we leave together.”
