Suchart has authorized lawyers to file a complaint against Ice Rakchanok on charges of defamation and violations of the Computer Crimes Act, revealing plans to sue for 50 million baht in civil damages next week. He denies the lawsuit is to silence critics, stating it is to protect his honor and dignity.
26 Feb 2026 GMT+7 Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, has authorized Natthawut Wongniam, lead lawyer, to present evidence consisting of posts from the personal Facebook account of Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, prospective party-list MP for the Prachachon Party, who posted statements such as “Good, now you can openly be called a minister who came from election fraud” and commented under the post calling him “unlucky person.” The posts were made on 12 February, after the Election Commission ruled not to recount votes in Constituency 1, Chonburi Province. The posts were set to public, accessible to everyone. The complaint charges include defamation and violations of the Computer Crimes Act.
Natthawut stated that Rakchanok's comment calling Suchart “unlucky person” uses “unlucky” as Suchart’s nickname. They found that Rakchanok deleted the comment last week, but the offense had already occurred and the victim had seen the message, leading to today's complaint.
The lawyer added that Suchart had previously shown patience with criticism, as past accusations were seen as minor and the legal team advised waiting until the election concluded. However, Rakchanok’s post this time affected confidence in Suchart. It is now official that the Election Commission has certified the election results and published them in the Royal Gazette, with no evidence indicating that Suchart engaged in election fraud, showing he is not an MP or minister obtained by cheating.
“We affirm that today’s complaint is not to silence but to protect Suchart’s honor and dignity. This is a consequence of your actions—if you had not acted, this problem would not have arisen. Should defamatory posts continue, we will file additional complaints on multiple charges,” he said.
Regarding members of the public who have shared or commented in a defamatory manner, the lawyers will first gather evidence to determine if it qualifies. Next week, the legal team will file a civil lawsuit at the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road seeking damages up to 50 million baht.
