Suksamruay Surprised to Be Named Ministerial Candidate, Ready to Work if Assigned

Je Ruay Suksamruay, MP for Amnat Charoen from Bhumjaithai Party, expressed surprise at being named as a ministerial candidate. She told reporters she is ready to work if assigned. Meanwhile, Eve Jintawan, MP for Sisaket, emphasized continuing the policy of building border walls.  "

On 27 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Suksamruay Wantaneeyakul, MP for Amnat Charoen District 1 from Bhumjaithai Party, went to receive her election certificate at the Election Commission Office. She revealed that she had just learned about being named as a ministerial candidate along with the media. So far, she has not received any official approach or information from party leaders or the government. Currently, she is preparing to report to the House of Representatives along with party members on 6 March GMT+7.

Ms. Suksamruay said she has not yet thought about any position or ministry she might be responsible for if appointed. She confirmed she only knows of the news from media reports and has not had discussions with party leaders, including the party head or executives, nor with the Prime Minister. She expects clarity may come after the party seminar in Buriram Province.

Ms. Suksamruay noted that people in her area expect their MPs to have opportunities to join the Cabinet, as with other areas represented by Bhumjaithai Party MPs. However, if senior party members see fit and assign duties, she is ready to perform her role fully.

She also said she was surprised to see her name in the ministerial candidate news and asked journalists she knows about the source, receiving only the response that it came from an unnamed source.

Meanwhile, Ms. Jintawan Traisornkul, or Eve, MP for Sisaket Province District 5 from Bhumjaithai Party, went to receive her election certificate. Afterward, she said she felt excited, similar to when she came to the Election Commission three months ago for a by-election.

Regarding plans to address border issues, Ms. Jintawan said efforts must start with solving forest fire problems. Recently, Cambodia had many forest fires causing smoke that affected residents near the border and local wildlife. Therefore, she urged Sisaket provincial authorities to monitor the situation daily to control fires and smoke to prevent further impact.

The previous Bhumjaithai Party policy to address border area problems involved constructing walls and clearly marking boundaries. Following prior military efforts, some boundary markers were added, raising public expectations that the government will complete the wall construction in Sisaket Province. The type of wall will require further geographical assessment because areas like Phu Khun Tan and Phu Sing are wildlife conservation zones with dense forests.

Regarding preparedness, she confirmed it is greater than in the first and second times because of past experience. If a third conflict occurs, she is confident they will be well prepared.
