The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) handed over gold bars weighing 20,976 baht, valued at 1.5 billion baht, back to the Ministry of Finance after the Supreme Court issued a ruling to seize assets from the former Director-General of the Revenue Department in an unexplained wealth case, finding that he acquired assets improperly.
On 27 February 2026 at the NACC office, Mr. Surapong Intarathaworn, Secretary-General of the NACC, authorized Mr. Prateep Kongsanit, Deputy Secretary-General, and Mr. Patanapong Janpetchpoon, Assistant Secretary-General, to deliver gold bars according to Supreme Court Judgment No. 1256/2567. The case was between the Attorney General as plaintiff and Mr. Satit Rangsiri, former Director-General of the Revenue Department, as defendant. The gold bars weigh 20,976 baht and are valued at over 1.5 billion baht. They were handed over to the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance to become state property. This case stems from the NACC’s resolution finding Mr. Satit guilty of unexplained wealth accumulation during his tenure as Director-General, dated 28 October 2016. The commission found that the purchases of gold bars in the names of Mr. Satit and Hua Seng Heng Commodities Co., Ltd., totaling 15 transactions, constituted assets that Mr. Satit acquired without proper justification, showing abnormal or excessive wealth accumulation linked to his official duties. The Supreme Court ruled that these assets be forfeited to the state.
