Government Accelerates Flood Relief Payments in Hat Yai Full Home Repair Compensation by March

The government revealed that nearly all initial flood relief payments of 9,000 baht in Hat Yai have been made. It is now accelerating the disbursement of home repair funds of 49,500 baht, confident that all households will be covered by the end of March.

On 27 February 2026, Mr. Pradorn Prisananantakul, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, provided an overview of assistance to flood-affected residents in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. He stated the government is rushing two key financial aid components to help people return to normal life as quickly as possible. Nearly 100% of the initial 9,000 baht relief payments have been transferred, with only a few hundred cases facing technical issues such as problems with PromptPay accounts or inactive bank accounts. He has instructed local administrative organizations to promptly verify and correct these records.

Regarding the home repair compensation of up to 49,500 baht, the latest progress shows approval for 11,853 households totaling 184 million baht. The first payment installment is planned for early March 2026. In Hat Yai municipality alone, eligibility has been verified for 6,000 to 7,000 homes out of over 10,000 affected.

Mr. Pradorn added that the Deputy Governor of Songkhla has urged Hat Yai municipality and surrounding localities—including Khlong Hae, Kho Hong, Khuan Lang, Ban Phru, and Thung Tamsao municipalities—to submit documents weekly to the district-level committee (K.Ch.P.Or.) to ensure smooth approval processes without delays. Officials can verify data at an average rate of 2,000 to 3,000 cases per day. The maximum repair payment is capped at 49,500 baht for total damage, while partial damage payments will be based on actual damage assessments by technical teams.

“The government aims for all affected households to receive their entitled funds fully, transparently, and promptly. We assure the public that we will expedite disbursements to cover every household by the end of March,” Mr. Pradorn concluded.
