The Supreme Court has scheduled a verdict on 4 March to decide the fate of "Doctor Kess" in the scandal regarding academic qualifications. If found guilty, she will be removed from her Senate seat and disqualified.
On 27 February 2026, reporters provided an update on the legal case involving Ms. Kessakorn Plensamai, or "Doctor Kess," a member of the Senate. The Election Commission (EC) filed a petition with the Supreme Court's Election Case Division requesting a review of her qualifications due to complaints about her academic credentials potentially constituting deception intended to mislead others about her qualifications, knowledge, or reputation to influence her election as a senator under Section 77(4) of the Senate Election Act.
In this case, the EC as petitioner decided on 18 July 2025 to submit a petition asking the court to revoke Ms. Kessakorn's right to run for election. The Supreme Court accepted the petition as case number Black File Lt SW 11/2568. The court has since examined evidence from both the petitioner and the opposing party.
Recently, the Supreme Court's Election Case Division announced that the verdict will be delivered on 4 March 2026 at 14:00 in Courtroom 5 of the Supreme Court. This decision will be final. If the court finds her guilty, Ms. Kessakorn will immediately lose her Senate seat and may be disqualified from running for election, as requested by the EC.
