Pheu Thai is aggressively securing 5 ministerial seats, including 3 ministers. Yotchanan, Julpan, and Suriya are set to take up ministerial positions as scheduled, focusing on appointing top-grade constituency MPs as deputy ministers to recover voter support.
On 27 Feb 2026, Mr. Yotchanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai’s party-list MP-elect and prime ministerial candidate, posted on his personal Facebook after a meeting with party leader Mr. Julpan Amornwiwat and key figure Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai. He stated that Pheu Thai is ready to start work immediately when the parliament opens, considering legislative work as the "backbone" of national transformation.
Mr. Yotchanan said the party plans to submit bills on four key issues: New Growth Engine—building a new economic engine through innovation; Modern Security—security in all dimensions for the modern world; Transparent Rules—designing transparent and modern social rules; and Infrastructure for All—developing infrastructure accessible to all Thai people.
Reporters also noted that in joining the coalition government led by the Bhumjaithai Party, Pheu Thai has been allocated a total of 8 ministerial posts. These include 5 cabinet minister positions overseeing Agriculture and Cooperatives, Education, Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Labor, and Social Development and Human Security.
The individuals expected to hold the cabinet minister positions are quite clear: the party’s three prime minister candidates—Mr. Yotchanan Wongsawat, Mr. Julpan Amornwiwat, and Mr. Suriya Jaroenrungkit—along with Mr. Prasert Chanruangthong, the party secretary-general, and Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, a key party leader, who are currently under consideration for specific ministry assignments.
As for the three deputy minister positions, it is expected two will be in Agriculture and one in Education. The party aims to select MPs closely connected to their constituencies to directly address local issues. Names under consideration include Mrs. Monporn Charoensri, five-term MP from Nakhon Phanom and former deputy minister with extensive experience; Ms. Sudawan Wangsupakitkosol, party-list MP-elect known for her achievements in the Korat area; Mr. Patthana Sapso, four-term MP from Sakon Nakhon with strong local influence; Mr. Supachai Nophkham, MP from Pathum Thani, the party’s sole representative in the Bangkok metropolitan area; and a representative from Udon Thani Province, which secured a significant number of parliamentary seats.
By deciding to join the government, Pheu Thai aims to implement its election policies concretely, to demonstrate its administrative capability and regain strong public support in the next election.
