“Noo-Ja” Visits Phrae City to Lead the Wrapping of Wat Phra That Chom Hae, Supporting Lanna Culture

The Prime Minister and his wife, dressed in Mo Hom, visited Phrae City to wrap the cloth around Wat Phra That Chom Hae, supporting Lanna culture and traditions.

On 27 February 2026 at Wat Phra That Chom Hae, a royal temple in Phrae province, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also Minister of Interior, accompanied by his wife Thannon Niramit and Ministry of Interior executives, chaired the sacred ceremony “Worship and Wrapping of Wat Phra That Chom Hae, Phrae City Annual Grand Banner Festival 2026.” The Prime Minister wore a traditional Mo Hom fabric, distinctive to Phrae province, amid a warm welcome from locals and a group of female dancers who participated in paying respects to the sacred relic.

This visit held political significance as “Mother Tik,” Mrs. Siriwan Prasaksattra, a leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, along with two newly elected Phrae MPs from the same party—Ms. Chanoknan Suphasiri (District 1) and Mr. Chanathip Suphasiri (District 2)—were present to warmly welcome the Prime Minister. He joined in carrying the wrapping cloth up the Tiger Staircase for the ceremony and paid homage to Phra Kosai Chediyaraks, the abbot of Wat Phra That Chom Hae, who greeted the Prime Minister’s wife, noting that this temple is the birth-year shrine for those born in the Year of the Tiger.

After the Buddhist ceremony, the Prime Minister presented a 'Stone Tamarind' tree, the provincial tree of Phrae, to the Governor of Phrae. He then proceeded to Khum Chao Luang in Phrae to pay respects at the monument of Chao Luang Phiriya Thepwong, the last ruler of Phrae, and privately toured the Phrae City History Museum before returning to Bangkok. Meanwhile, lottery enthusiasts gathered to note the license plate number of the Toyota Alphard van, 3 ขล 2499 Bangkok, used by the Prime Minister during this visit.
