Prompong Urges New Government to Quickly Address Agricultural Product Prices and Livelihood Issues, Confident in Professional Pheu Thai Personnel Joining Cabinet

Prompong, former spokesperson of the Pheu Thai Party, called on the new government to urgently address the falling prices of agricultural products and livelihood issues. He expressed confidence that Pheu Thai’s professional personnel are ready to work hard alongside Anutin’s Cabinet.

On 28 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Prompong Noparit, former Pheu Thai spokesperson, said the major challenge facing the country after the formation of the new Cabinet under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is to quickly resolve economic problems, livelihood issues, and the declining prices of agricultural products such as rice, corn, cassava, and coconut. He also highlighted the need to plan ahead for this year’s expected drought and irregular rainfall, which will impact agriculture and require preparation to support the people. Previously, the Monetary Policy Committee cut Thailand’s policy interest rate from 1.25% to 1.00% annually to stimulate economic recovery, reflecting that the domestic economy has been weak since last year and is expected to remain sluggish into next year. This presents a major challenge for the new government to address and resolve.

Mr. Prompong stated that the formation of the new Cabinet is not yet complete. He has followed media reports forecasting ministerial appointments from the Bhumjaithai Party, coalition parties, Pheu Thai, and some outsiders, many of whom are familiar figures in politics with proven track records. Regarding Pheu Thai, he does not know which individuals the party’s executive committee has considered for ministerial or deputy ministerial posts and in which ministries. However, he is confident that Pheu Thai, with its extensive political experience as both a leading government and opposition party, has politicians—both seasoned and new, including multiple-term MPs—who are knowledgeable, capable, professional, visionary, and ready to work hard. They have clear strategies to tackle assigned problems and are prepared to work integrally with all sectors to solve issues for the people.
