Government Mobilizes 300 Medical and Health Personnel for Moto GP 2026 at Chang International Circuit, Buriram

The government is mobilizing 300 medical and public health personnel to handle emergency situations for the Moto GP 2026 at Chang International Circuit in Buriram Province, expecting over 300,000 tourists to attend the event.

On 28 February 2026, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that

the government is preparing medical and public health services by organizing emergency medical units and first aid to support the first round of the Motorcycle World Championship "PT GRAND PRIX OF THAILAND 2026" at Chang International Circuit, Buriram Province, from 27 February to 1 March 2026. It is expected that racers, competition sponsors, as well as both Thai and international tourists, will attend the event in Buriram and nearby provinces, totaling more than 300,000 people.

The government has assigned the Ministry of Public Health to mobilize 300 medical and public health personnelto provide care and services. This is to effectively manage emergencies and injuries, covering medical personnel standards, equipment, and operational plans for assistance at the scene, patient transfer, and mass casualty transport. The goal is to ensure safety for residents and tourists traveling within the province and along travel routes, while building confidence in safety and enhancing Thailand's positive image.

"The Motorcycle World Championship has been held continuously since 2018, totaling 7 years, generating economic value. From 2018 to 2025, over 1.2 million spectators attended, creating an economic impact of approximately 24 billion baht, with an average annual return of about 5 billion baht. The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) earned more from ticket sales and management fees than expenses and must return money to the state per regulations. Compared to the 800 million baht budget support, this represents an economic return over six times greater, not including the publicity value from broadcasts reaching 700 to 800 million households worldwide."/** No text to translate **/ Ms. Airin emphasized
