The Permanent Secretary of the Interior has notified all provincial governors to carry out the selection of the 18th cohort of M.T.S. Royal Scholarship students for the 2026 academic year with thoroughness, comprehensive consideration, transparency, fairness, and equitable opportunity distribution.
On 28 February 2026, Mr. Assit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, revealed the progress of the M.T.S. Royal Scholarship Program for 2026 under the “M.T.S. Royal Scholarship Foundation of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn (M.T.S.),” noting that the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) has already completed the operational guidelines.
"The Ministry of Interior has informed all provincial governors to understand the guidelines and effectively implement the M.T.S. Royal Scholarship Program for 2026 with transparency and fairness. The provincial selection committees, chaired by the governors and with provincial education officers as secretaries, have begun the strict selection process for the 18th cohort in accordance with the guidelines. They ensure the nomination of qualified students covers all schools in every jurisdiction. This includes home visits, verification of empirical data, assessment of correct and virtuous attitudes toward the nation’s main institutions, and students’ willingness and understanding of the program. The process is careful, comprehensive, transparent, fair, and verifiable. The information is then forwarded to regional education offices for further action. Additionally, the provincial committees are responsible for monitoring scholarship students’ academic performance, behavior, and use of funds, as well as assisting students and their families in case of difficulties, according to the M.T.S. Foundation’s regulations on student care established in 2018."
The Permanent Secretary of the Interior added that the Ministry plans to hold a briefing and orientation meeting for provincial governors, provincial committee members, and regional education officers on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, via the Video Conference System (VCS) to ensure the work proceeds efficiently according to the prescribed procedures and guidelines.
