On 1 March 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul posted on Facebook alongside an image of cloud formations shaped like the map of Thailand, stating: "Dear fellow Thai citizens, the conflict in the Middle East is likely to escalate, which will inevitably impact the global economy, including Thailand. Although Thailand is not a party to this conflict, many thousands of our citizens live and work in countries in this region."
The Thai government considers the safety of its citizens in high-risk countries paramount, especially those residing in Iran and Israel. The government will take every possible measure to ensure their safety and facilitate their swift return to the homeland. Currently, I am coordinating closely with the Foreign Minister and the Air Force Commander to prepare our aircraft to evacuate Thai nationals stranded in Iran as the first priority.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under Minister Sihasak Puangketkaew, has ordered the establishment of an operations center to monitor the situation and to fully prepare assistance measures for Thai nationals. I am personally receiving reports and monitoring developments from all security agencies and have instructed relevant ministries to prepare.[Fragment: lists related ministries]These include the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Interior. They have been ordered to be on standby and ready for this mission 24 hours a day.
This situation will undoubtedly affect Thailand's economy, but the government will take every measure to minimize the impact during this period when the economy is recovering. My team and I will monitor the situation closely and work to turn the Middle East crisis into an opportunity for Thailand as much as possible.
As Prime Minister, I invite all Thai citizens to join me in praying to the sacred deities we revere, including Phra Siam Devadhiraj and the royal grace of His Majesty the King, to grant blessings and protection to all Thai people living in conflict zones, ensuring their safety and shielding them from harm amid the ongoing fighting.
I pledge that the government will do its utmost to ensure the success of the mission to assist and care for Thai nationals in the conflict areas of the Middle East.and achieve resultsas quickly as possible.
