Expected 50% Voter Turnout in New MP Election at Polling Station 6, Constituency 1, Phayao Province

Residents have come out to exercise their right to vote in the new MP election at polling station 6, constituency 1, Phayao Province, continuously. The director of the Phayao Election Commission expects that voters will reach 50%


On 1 March 2026, reporters reported that the atmosphere around the polling station at the Ban Sala School cafeteria, Village No. 4, Tha Wang Thong Subdistrict,Mueang Phayao District,polling station 6, constituency 1, saw the Phayao Provincial Election Commission conducting a new parliamentary election due to corruption issues involving the Provincial Waterworks Authority staff on 8 February 2026, necessitating this re-election today.


Registeredvotershave been steadily coming to cast their ballots, with the polling station committee facilitating and strictly supervising the voting process.Thevoting runs from 08:00 to 17:00, after which votes will be counted again.


Previously, in Phayao's constituency 1 election, candidate number 3, Mr. Akara Promphao from the Kla Tham Party, led in votes but the results were not certified due to election fraud in this area.This led tothe necessity of today's new election.


The atmosphere at the new election at polling station 6, Tha Wang Thong Subdistrict, Mueang Phayao District, has seen citizens continuously exercising their voting rights since the polls opened. This polling station has a total of 439 registered voters. Overall, the situation remains normal without any issues. The Election Commission has scheduled poll closing at 17:00, followed by vote counting at the station, then official results will be sent to the Mueang Phayao district office for compilation and reporting.


Ms. Panadda Chanchotiyan,director of the Phayao Election Commission, said the provincial election committee had prepared thoroughly for the new election.They held meetings to rehearse procedures,and replaced experienced polling station officials for this election. For this election, there are439 registered voters, and it is expected thatabout 50% willcast theirvotes. They have also requested cooperation from the Tha Wang Thong municipality to help publicize and encourage people to exercisetheir right tovotein this election.
