Prime Minister Anutin said he is not in a hurry, noting that civil servants do not feel the need to wait for a new government. He dismissed the Nida Poll results, which encourage cooperation only with Pheu Thai, stating he will wait for a clear count of MPs before making any moves.
On 1 Mar 2026 at 15:20 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke about the Nida Poll survey showing that the majority of the public supports forming a coalition solely with the Pheu Thai Party. He said, "That's fine. We listen to all sides, and there is still time to proceed."
"As for myself, I must have clarity and certainty before taking any action. Last week there was some clarity with the certification of 396 constituency MPs. I expect that this week—though I don’t know the exact day—the remaining MPs, especially from the party-list system, will be gradually certified. Actually, I am not yet an MP myself because I have not been certified. Therefore, taking other actions beforehand would be skipping steps. We do not yet know the total number of MPs, so we must follow the proper procedures. This is the best course of action." the Prime Minister said.
When asked if this sensitive period requires rushing to form a government to serve the people, the Prime Minister said the current government is continuously addressing the country's problems. He described it as a transitional period, but one in which they hope there will be no changes causing disruptions in administration. If situations arise,we are always prepared. All government sectors continue to cooperate with the government in managing affairs and solving problems. They do not feel this is a time to wait for a new government. There is no disruption or pause at all.
