Prime Minister Reveals Thailands Response Measures After NSC Meeting on Middle East Conflict Delegates Details to Sihasak

The Prime Minister revealed that after a National Security Council (NSC) meeting on the conflict in the Middle East, measures have been put in place. He acknowledged the number of Thai nationals wishing to return and referred to Sihasak, the NSC Secretary-General, to provide further details.

On 2 March 2026 GMT+7, following a National Security Council (NSC) meeting, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul exited the meeting via an unusual route. Upon encountering reporters, he said:“No matter how you try, you can’t escape.”, accompanied by laughter.

Regarding the overall meeting, he described it as good with established measures but requested that Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangketkaew and NSC Secretary-General Chatcahai Bangchuad announce the policies and measures. On the number of Thai nationals wishing to return, Anutin confirmed the figures have been obtained but asked Sihasak to provide the official announcement.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Akniti Nitithanprapas said this afternoon there will be a meeting to assess the economic impact of the Middle East conflict. The morning session focused on security, with all economic agencies participating, though Bank of Thailand Governor Vichai Ratanakorn might be unable to attend due to other commitments.

Regarding how long the government plans to maintain these measures, Akniti stated that the public should wait for the outcome of the afternoon meeting.
