Commander-in-Chief Emphasizes Thailands Neutrality, Orders 24-Hour Monitoring and Immediate Evacuation of Thai Nationals upon Government Directive

The Thai Armed Forces spokesperson revealed that the Commander-in-Chief emphasized Thailand's neutral position amid tensions in the Middle East, ordering continuous monitoring of the situation and its impact on national security around the clock, with readiness to evacuate Thai nationals immediately upon government orders.

On 2 March 2026 GMT+7, Major General Witai Laithomya, spokesperson for the Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, explained the approach to handling the heightened tensions in the Middle East region. He said the Thai military has been tasked by the National Security Council to operate jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in fully implementing a crisis response plan.

The Commander-in-Chief has instructed relevant agencies to continuously monitor and assess the situation and its effects on national security 24 hours a day. He reaffirmed the stance of "neutrality" in accordance with government policy, prioritizing the protection of national interests as the highest goal. This effort is integrated closely with the armed forces branches, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant agencies to prepare personnel and aircraft to initiate the safe evacuation of Thai nationals as soon as orders are given.

"The Thai military is ready to ensure the safety of Thai citizens in areas at risk from conflict and urges the public to have confidence in the operational plans, which have been rehearsed and coordinated closely across all sectors," he said.

The spokesperson for the Thai Armed Forces Headquarters addressed precautions for the public amid the crisis with abundant information circulating. The military requests the public to listen only to information from official government agencies and the military's authorized channels, while being wary of fake news or misinformation on social media that could cause panic. The Thai military will continue to provide important updates to the public through its primary public relations channels.
