
The Secretary-General of the National Security Council revealed that the security meeting has intensified safety controls, directing intelligence and police units to monitor the embassies of conflicting nations—the US, Iran, and Israel—while keeping watch on individuals entering and exiting the country to prevent unrest. He emphasized that Khao San Road remains safe for normal daily life.
On 2 Mar 2026 GMT+7, at the Government House, Mr. Chatichai Bangchuad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council, spoke about domestic security measures. He assigned police and intelligence agencies to monitor conflict-related sites including the embassies involved, as well as various activities. The police have prepared to manage these situations fully. Additionally, they are tracking individuals entering and leaving Thailand who may be connected to potential disturbances, with further monitoring measures planned.
Mr. Chatichai added that there are concerns about social media use, which sometimes distorts information to create divisions andconflicts between different groups.He said they will monitor and verify information to ensure accuracy and appropriateness. On the economic front, the Prime Minister will hold a meeting in the afternoon. Initial assignments have been made for the Ministry of Energy to assess oil-related issues and the Ministry of Commerce to evaluate export impacts, with discussions planned for the afternoon session.
When asked about whether tourists and locals can continue normal activities in potentially vulnerable places like Khao San Road, Mr. Chatichai said people can still live normally. Security agencies will closely monitor the situation to ensure safety for everyone, including foreign nationals from any country, to prevent conflicts.
Regarding cyber threat prevention linked to the conflict, Mr. Chatichai said the meeting considered these issues. One resolution was to assign intelligence, police, the Ministry of Digital Economy,and the Ministry of Economyand society to assist in overseeing this technical matter. He affirmed the importance of this as social media can sometimes distort facts and cause discord among groups with differing views.
When asked if special surveillance is needed for embassies inThailand,Mr. Chatichai said the police have already taken action. The US, Iranian, Israeli embassies, and other related countries' embassieswill have increased security measures implemented.
