Thai Nationals Wanting to Return from Iran Increase to 40 Fewer than 20 in Israel

On 2 March 2026 at the Government House, Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said after a meeting assessing the conflict situation in the Middle East that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul prioritizes the safety of Thai nationals in the region, totaling over 100,000 people. There is a safety plan in place for citizensin Iranwho wish for the embassy andthe Ministry of Foreign Affairsto facilitate their return home. Currently, there are about 40 people.


Trinuch revealed that Thai workers in Israel requesting to return are very few, not exceeding 20.


Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labor, stated that following a meeting, the Prime Minister expressed concern for Thai workers. The Ministry of Labor has set up an emergency center to monitor Thai workers in the Middle East, most of whom are in Israel, about 60,000 people, a group under close watch. The Israeli government has been taking good care of Thai workers and reports only a small number requesting repatriation, fewer than 10-20 people, while about 40 have been reported in Iran. The situation continues to be evaluated periodically.


Ms. Trinuch added that the Prime Minister emphasized andexpressedconcern. The Ministry of Labor has coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist those Thai nationals wishing to return to Thailand, ensuring safe repatriation.


The Ministry of Labor continues to monitor the situation, and if the conflict escalates broadly, plans are in place to coordinate support and assistance for Thai nationals.


Pipat reveals flight cancellations with airlines responsible for accommodation and food costs.


Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, stated that 135 flights have been canceled: 59 at Suvarnabhumi Airport affecting 9,409 passengers; 285 at Don Mueang Airport affecting 285 passengers; 36 at Phuket Airport affecting 5,665 passengers; and 165 at Chiang Mai Airport affecting 165 people. Airlines will cover accommodation and meal expenses.


The Ministry of Transport is seeking alternative travel routes to support those returning from areas near the conflict zone, as well as travelers heading to the Middle East or other countries. Additionally, few tourists from the Middle East are currently in Thailand due to the Muslim fasting month, so the impact is minor.
