
The Prime Minister convened an urgent meeting to monitor the Middle East conflict followingthe United States' acceleratedevacuation of American citizens from the area.They are closely monitoring measuresto provide additional assistance to Thais, expecting the situation to extend for at leastfourweeks.
On 3 Mar 2026 at 10:55 GMT+7, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, chaired a meeting of the Situation Monitoring Center to assess tensions in the Middle East. The meeting included Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, senior officials from the ministry, and representatives from Thai embassies and consulates stationed in Middle Eastern countries. They reviewed developments and progress on the care and assistance for Thais in the region. Minister Don stated that today's meeting was to follow up on the fighting in the Middle East, invitingthe relevant ambassadorsinvolved with evacuation efforts to participate, assigning the Director-General of the South Asia Department to report on the situation.
Subsequently, Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the South Asia, Middle East and Africa Department, reported that based on information gathered locally and media reports from various countries, the conflict is expected to last at leastfourweeks, with a likelihood that the United States will escalate the conflict further. Regarding attacks in various areas,by the United States in Iranand Israel, continuous strikes have targeted Tehran, focusing onstrategic infrastructureacross the country,includingcivilian targets. Internally in Iran, after the loss of the Supreme Leader, a new Supreme Leader has been appointed within the past few days during a transitional period. An interim leadership council is in place. In Israel, attacks on Iran continue, andHezbollah groups have launched attacksin central and northern Israel. Israel has also expanded its strikes beyond Iran to Lebanon.
Meanwhile, reporters noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has set up a 24-hour war room to monitor the situation from Thai embassies in the Middle East, tracking news and ministry information continuously.
