Governor Chadchart participated in a ceremony to restore the 150-year-old Guangdong Shrine after it was damaged by high-rise construction, the electric train, and an earthquake.
On 3 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Chadchart Sitthiphan, Governor of Bangkok, took part in a ritual ceremony to restore the 150-year-old Guangdong Shrine at the multipurpose courtyard of the Guangdong Shrine, under the Kong Siu Association of Thailand.
The Kong Siu Association of Thailand and the 150-year-old Guangdong Shrine suffered damage from high-rise building construction, the electric train, an earthquake, and development activities in the Charoen Krung area. This caused significant damage to the shrine’s overall structure, with aging deterioration and surrounding buildings experiencing cracked roofs that urgently need repair.
Therefore, the Guangdong Shrine held a ritual ceremony to restore this historic building as an expression of reverence and gratitude to the benevolent ancestors who sacrificed for the community, and to bring auspiciousness to the restoration of this sacred religious site over 150 years old.
The restoration ceremony began around 10:30 a.m. with Buddhist monks chanting prayers, followed by offering alms to the monks. At 12:09 p.m., the Brahmin ritual commenced, with monks chanting auspicious mantras to bring blessings, marking the conclusion of the ceremony.
