Permanent Secretary of the Interior Urgently Orders All Provinces to Monitor Consumer Goods and Energy Prices Amid Middle East Situation

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior issued an urgent order to provincial governors nationwide to enforce three measures: to control prices of consumer goods and energy, to raise public awareness to prevent panic, and to prepare for the situation in the Middle East.

On 4 March 2026, a reporter reported that on 3 March at 11:00 p.m., Mr. Assit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, revealed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed all relevant agencies to prepare plans to address potential impacts on national security and public safety arising from the current conflict situation in the Middle East region.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior said that to monitor, watch closely, and prepare for potential impacts from the escalating tensions in the Middle East, he has ordered all provincial governors to implement three measures: 1. Notify relevant local agencies to manage prices of goods and services by preventing opportunistic price hikes and hoarding, as well as closely supervising prices of consumer goods and energy locally; 2. Raise public awareness to prevent panic, assuring that consumer goods remain sufficient and building confidence in government efforts to manage living costs and ensure fair pricing for citizens; and 3. Strictly oversee the operations of provincial government agencies according to government guidelines and policies.

"Additionally, provincial and district Damrongtham Centers will serve as channels to receive information or complaints in cases where individuals are affected by these issues."
