Prime Minister Reiterates No Oil Hoarding by Public After Iran Closes Strait of Hormuz

Prime Minister Anutin responded twice, denying that the public is hoarding oil following Iran's announcement to close the Strait of Hormuz due to the Middle East war.

4 Mar 2026 GMT+7 Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, gave an interview at Muang Thong Thani, answering media questions regarding reports that there is now oil hoarding due to the Middle East war and Iran's declaration to close the Strait of Hormuz. He said, "No."

Regarding orders to freeze oil prices for 15 days, the Prime Minister did not respond and left by car after chairing the opening ceremony of the academic conference of the Association of Thai Municipalities, followed by chairing the first meeting of the Civil Service Subcommittee of 2026 at the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) on Phayathai Road, Pathumwan District, Bangkok.

Later, at 10:15 a.m., when Anutin arrived at the AMLO office, reporters again asked about the public rushing to fill up oil for hoarding. Anutin repeated, "No."
