Sonthiya Files Petition with Election Commission to Dissolve Palang Pracharath Party Over Candidate Support Issues

Sonthiya, a former Palang Pracharath MP candidate, submitted a letter to the Election Commission requesting the dissolution of the Palang Pracharath Party because it nominated candidates for election but did not provide financial support for their campaign expenses. He also requested an investigation into Senator Nantana for interfering in the election process.

On 4 March 2026, Mr. Sonthiya Sawasdee, a former MP candidate from the Palang Pracharath Party, submitted a letter to the Election Commission regarding the nomination of MP candidates who received no financial support. As one such candidate, he stated that he had not received a single baht from the party to cover expenses. He expressed his wish for the Election Commission to proceed with dissolving the Palang Pracharath Party. He plans to submit additional documents either this Friday or next week to support his request.

Another issue concerns Senator Nantana Nantawaropas, who publicly commented opposing the Election Commission’s filing of criminal charges against individuals violating the Election Act. According to Section 185 of the 2017 Constitution, senators and MPs are prohibited from interfering in the operations of government agencies. Therefore, his public statements on this matter are improper. Sonthiya urged the Election Commission to take action against this violation as it constitutes unlawful interference in the duties of a government agency.
