Reserve Senator Criticizes Anutins Use of Official Aircraft to Open Private MotoGP Event

Reserve Senator Akrawat criticized Prime Minister Anutin, questioning under what entitlement he used an official aircraft to attend a private MotoGP event in Buriram, citing a previous case where someone took an official vehicle to a Kathin ceremony and ended up imprisoned.

On 4 March 2026, at the Election Commission office, Reserve Senator Akrawat Pongthanachalitkul remarked that he wished to raise concerns about the MotoGP event held in Buriram on 1 March. He noted that Prime Minister and Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul apparently used his privilege to travel on an Air Force plane to open the MotoGP event in Buriram, where many politicians were seen disembarking from the plane with broad smiles.

Akrawat stated he would not comment on whether Anutin was acting as caretaker prime minister but noted that, as the Bhumjaithai Party leader, using an official aircraft to attend a private event like the MotoGP race raises questions about whether it was an official government or private event. He emphasized that Air Force planes are meant only for security-related duties, and that using them for leisure trips prompts public suspicion. He referenced a case where officials who took official vehicles to religious ceremonies like Kathin and Pha Pa faced imprisonment, urging scrutiny of the use of official aircraft for inappropriate activities.
