“Peerapan” Outlines Plan to Support Coconut Farmers, Urges Formation of Association to Counter Chinese Investment Dominance

The Ruamthai Sangchat Party visited Samut Sakhon to listen to the crisis of falling coconut prices. Peerapan advised farmers to unite and form an association in response to heavy Chinese investment encroaching on the Thai market.

On 5 March 2026, Mr. Peerapan Sareeratwiphak, leader of the Ruamthai Sangchat Party, along with party leaders, met with representatives of farmers and wholesale coconut traders to discuss ways to address the problem of declining product prices. The farmers expressed that they are facing major problems due to Chinese capital intervening in the trading system, causing them to lose market share. They therefore requested the party's help in coordinating with the government to find new export markets as replacements.

Peerapan suggested that farmers urgently unite into a clear association or producer group to avoid the problem of acting individually, which hinders receiving assistance from the Ministry of Commerce. Having a representative group would improve negotiation power and ensure better dissemination of government measures. He also committed to coordinating with relevant agencies to study foreign market demands and systematically promote Thai coconuts on the global stage.
