Prime Minister Sets National Agenda as Host for IMF-World Bank 2026 to Address Global Crisis

The Prime Minister opened the Government House to meet with IMF executives, confirming Thailand's readiness to host the global IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings in October 2026.


On 5 March 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF, during her visit to Thailand to prepare for the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026. Thailand will host the event at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from 12 to 18 October 2026.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on the Middle East conflict crisis affecting the global economy. The Prime Minister emphasized that this meeting is a "national agenda" to demonstrate Thailand's capability to manage various risks and evolving technology. He also affirmed that after the government formation is complete, full cooperation with all sectors and the IMF will be pursued to build economic resilience against emerging global geopolitical crises.
