Suchart Sends Lawyer to Sue Ice Rakchanok for 50 Million Baht in Damages with 5% Annual Interest

Suchart has authorized his lawyer to sue Ice Rakchanok for defamation and under the Computer Crime Act, demanding 50 million baht in damages plus 5% annual interest. He denied political harassment and warned commenters to be careful to avoid isolation before the court.

At 2:00 p.m. on 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7 at the Taling Chan Criminal Court, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, assigned lawyer Mr. Nattawut Wongniam to file a lawsuit against Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, party-list MP of the Prachachon Party (PCN), for defamation by advertising and violations of the Computer Crime Act, seeking 50 million baht in damages plus 5% annual interest. This follows Ms. Rakchanok posting content on her personal Facebook page that caused damage to Mr. Suchart.

Mr. Nattawut said he was authorized by Mr. Suchart to file the lawsuit after the Election Commission certified the party-list MPs. The charges involve defamation by advertising due to posts implying Mr. Suchart was a minister who came from election fraud and a "Heng Suay" person, among other defamatory remarks. The term "Heng" is Mr. Suchart's nickname. Ms. Rakchanok later edited the posts as if nothing had happened, but the damage was already done. Today, he submitted the case to the court, which accepted it and scheduled a preliminary hearing for 27 Apr 2026 GMT+7 under case number A.257/2569.

The lawyer further stated, This lawsuit is definitely not political harassment. If Ms. Rakchanok had not posted those statements, no one would have taken action. It was her own doing, unrelated to anyone else. It is not that Mr. Suchart used his political position to silence her. Ms. Rakchanok has freedom of speech but must stay within legal limits and cannot exceed them. Finally, I warn those who comment defamatory remarks against Mr. Suchart to beware of being isolated before the court. Our legal team is prepared to take firm action. ."
