Profile of Chonnaphat Naksua, Songkhla MP from the Kla Tham Party, recently re-elected for a second term. On 6 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that after the AMLO Transaction Committee resolved on 11 Nov 2025 GMT+7 to seize and freeze assets of Mr. Chonnaphat Naksua, Songkhla MP for constituency 4 of the Kla Tham Party, and associates totaling 159 million baht, following findings of financial routes linked to persons suspected of money laundering related to Mr. Chonnaphat, the assets were temporarily frozen and seized.

Most recently, on 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7, officials from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), together with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), searched the residence of Mr. Chonnaphat in Village 5, Kradangnga Subdistrict, Sathing Phra District, Songkhla Province to collect further evidence regarding complaints connected to an online gambling website network.

Profile of Chonnaphat Naksua

Mr. Chonnaphat Naksua, nicknamed Krit, was born on 8 Sep 1989 (age 36). He is originally from Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. He completed secondary education at Sritammarat School, earned a Bachelor of Economics from Thaksin University, and a Master of Public Administration from Krungthep Thonburi University.

Political Career

Mr. Chonnaphat entered politics by being elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time in 2023, representing the Palang Pracharath Party. He defeated former two-term MP Chaiwut Phongphaeo from the Democrat Party and former one-term MP Police Captain Arun Sawasdee from the United Thai Nation Party. He was the only Palang Pracharath MP elected from Songkhla. Later, he joined the Kla Tham Party and was appointed to the party's executive committee on 3 Feb 2025.

In the parliamentary election held on 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Chonnaphat ran for the Songkhla 4th constituency under the Kla Tham Party banner and won re-election as MP. On 4 Mar 2026 GMT+7, he officially reported for duty at the House of Representatives.

Business Ventures

Regarding his business career, Mr. Chonnaphat owns various enterprises including real estate, a sportswear factory, a medical equipment factory, and a boat rental tourism business. He was also chairman of Nakhon Si United Football Club. On 24 Feb 2024, he was arrested at Don Mueang Airport with associates on charges related to online gambling but was granted bail two days later.

AMLO Asset Seizure and Financial Investigation

On 11 Nov 2025 GMT+7, the AMLO Transaction Committee resolved to temporarily freeze assets totaling 159 million baht belonging to Mr. Chonnaphat and associates for up to 90 days. These assets include cash, vehicles, land, securities accounts, and bank deposits across 69 items. AMLO’s investigation found evidence of persons jointly involved in electronic gambling operations and other online gambling websites. Financial pathways indicated violations under Section 3 (9) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act B.E. 2542 (1999), linked to Mr. Chonnaphat and associates, involving potential transfer, sale, concealment, or disguise of assets related to these offenses.

DSI and AMLO Search MP Chonnaphat’s Home for Additional Evidence in Online Gambling Case

On 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7, officials from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), together with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), searched Mr. Chonnaphat’s residence in Village 5, Kradangnga Subdistrict, Sathing Phra District, Songkhla Province to gather further evidence related to complaints involving an online gambling website network. This search followed AMLO’s petition to the court to declare Mr. Chonnaphat’s and associates' assets forfeited to the state after the court reviewed and found insufficient grounds to revoke the asset seizure.

On 6 Mar 2026 GMT+7 at 14:00, Police Lieutenant General Rutthaphon Naowarat, Minister of Justice, along with Police Captain Yutthana Praedam, Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, Lieutenant Colonel Khemapat Prakaihongmanee, Director of the Technology and Information Crime Division, and Mr. Kamonsit Wongbutnoi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), will jointly hold a press conference regarding the DSI’s crackdown on a large online gambling network linked to politicians, with money flow exceeding one billion baht. The event will be held at the Department of Special Investigation, Ratchaburidirekrit Building (Building A), Chaeng Watthana Road.
