The Kings Secretary and Prime Minister Monitor Canal Development Projects in Rattanakosin Island and Khlong Saen Saep

The King's Secretary, along with the Prime Minister, conducted a site visit to monitor canal development projects in Rattanakosin Island and Khlong Saen Saep.

At 07:00 on 6 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Air Chief Marshal Sathitpong Sukvimol, the King's Secretary, accompanied Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to inspect the progress of canal development projects in Rattanakosin Island and Khlong Saen Saep. They were joined by Mr. Akniti Nititandprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; heads of government agencies; executives from state enterprises; and relevant private sector representatives at Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem, Khlong Mahanak, and Khlong Ong Ang in Bangkok.

The canal development projects in Rattanakosin Island and Khlong Saen Saep follow the royal initiative under the King's policy to drive urban development and landscape restoration that aligns with environmental conservation and the lifestyles of canal-side communities. The projects aim to revitalize these important waterways and sustainably improve the quality of life for residents.

During the visit, the delegation boarded a boat to inspect the canal conditions starting from the Lan Luang Intersection pier on Krung Kasem Road in Pom Prap Sattru Phai district. They traveled along Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem, Khlong Mahanak, passed Phan Fa Lilat Bridge, Khlong Ong Ang, and reached a temporary pier beside Damrong Sathit Bridge (SCG Bridge) on Charoen Krung Road in Samphanthawong district, covering a distance of 2.6 kilometers. Afterwards, they received a briefing on the overall project and progress, including infrastructure, organization, landscaping improvements, sidewalk upgrades, management of utility poles and lighting, as well as tourism promotion around the city. Recommendations were given to develop the projects for sustainable public benefit.
