Chanaphat Naksua, Songkhla MP from the Kla Tham Party, affirmed his respect for the duties of all parties and insisted that everything proceed according to due process after being issued a summons for questioning.
On 7 March 2026, following a press conference held the previous day (6 March) by the Minister of Justice, the Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Secretary-General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), and related agencies regarding the expansion of investigations into online gambling websites, it was acknowledged that summonses had been issued. Chanaphat Naksua is a Member of Parliament representing Songkhla’s 4th electoral district for the Kla Tham Party. Prior to this, the DSI and AMLO conducted a search of Chanaphat’s residence in Songkhla province.
The DSI Director-General believes that Chanaphat remains in Thailand and, as an MP, may have parliamentary immunity. The investigative office has issued a summons to him. While parliament is not in session, authorities can proceed, but once in session, Chanaphat would have immunity requiring permission from the House of Representatives for arrest or detention.
. . . Col. Thammanat Prompao, serving as the chief advisor to the Kla Tham Party, said after bringing party members to report as MPs at parliament that he was unaware of the matter. Regarding the Justice Ministry’s announcement, he said they must wait and see. Since Chanaphat is an MP, any protections or immunities must be considered. He emphasized this issue does not concern the Kla Tham Party but is a personal matter.
Meanwhile, Chanaphat did not travel with other Kla Tham MPs yesterday but had already reported to parliament alone on 4 March 2026.
Most recently, on the evening of 6 March 2026, Chanaphat posted an update onFacebook. He addressed a media report quoting him as saying, “I cannot accept the incident where DSI officers raided my home, which I consider an insult and excessively harsh.” Chanaphat clarified in his post that “I never made that statement. I respect the duties of all parties and insist that everything proceed according to due process.”
