The Palang Pracharath Party held a general meeting where the assembly decided to appoint Trinuch Thianthong as the new party leader. She emphasized that she still needs to seek advice from General Prawit, and the party revealed five deputy leaders along with the new executive committee members.
At 10:30 a.m. on 7 March 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Trinuch Thianthong, MP for Sa Kaeo and acting leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, together with Mr. Yuthana Sritabut, Mr. Kraset Trakoolpornpong, Mr. Phakthorn Thianchai, Mr. Badee Thianthong, and General Krit Yothin Sasipattanawong, led the party's general meeting.
Before the meeting, Ms. Trinuch greeted party members and the public visiting the party, stopping to eat at booths arranged by the party. Representatives from the public and members of parliament also presented her with commemorative gifts to congratulate her, creating a friendly atmosphere before she joined the party's general meeting.
Ms. Trinuch stated that this general meeting was organized due to the fact that General Prawit Wongsuwan, the party leader, resigned about two months ago. According to the Election Commission's regulations, the executive committee must act as interim leaders, so a general meeting was necessary to elect the new party leader, deputy leaders, and executive committee members to ensure the party's operations can continue.
The new executive committee structure includes both experienced members and new faces working together to drive the party forward, build confidence in its work and policies, and remain a hope for the people. She affirmed that the party has been striving to operate fully and still has the opportunity to be invited to join the government once the situation becomes clearer, after which the party will continue its political progress.
When asked if General Prawit left any guidance, Ms. Trinuch said, she had visited General Prawit, who gave the team the opportunity to develop and grow the party, especially focusing on solving people's livelihood problems. She emphasized that she will continue to consult with General Prawit going forward. She also confirmed that the party can continue political activities as usual, currently having five MPs, members, and party branches that act as representatives to listen to public concerns and promote party policies.
Regarding joining the government, Ms. Trinuch said the process is ongoing and they must wait until the parliamentary session opens and the prime minister is elected before the situation becomes clearer. As for the position of Minister of Labour, she said it should follow political mechanisms.
, The voting results from party members to elect the executive committee showed that Ms. Trinuch Thianthong was chosen as party leader. Meanwhile, Mr. Yuthana Sritabut became the party secretary, Ms. Ornuch Wainusit the treasurer, and Mr. Chatree Phadungpong the party registrar.
, The five deputy party leaders are Mr. Phakthorn Thianchai, Mr. Kraset Trakoolpornpong, General Krit Yothin Sasipattanawong, Police Lieutenant General Piya Tawichai, and Mom Luang Korakrit Kasemsri.
