Second Anutin Cabinet Lineup: Pheu Thai Gets 5 Ministerial Posts, Sutawan Secures Social Development Ministry Somsak Excluded

The second Anutin cabinet lineup allocates five ministerial posts to the Pheu Thai Party with confirmed names: Yotsanan, Suriya, Julphan, Prasert, and Sutawan. Somsak's name has been dropped. Meanwhile, the three deputy minister seats remain undecided; there are three vacancies but seven candidates in contention.

On 7 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported on the ministerial quota movement in the second Anutin cabinet lineup, with the Pheu Thai Party securing five ministerial and three deputy minister positions. The five ministerial posts are relatively settled, while the name of Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, previously included in the lineup, has now been excluded.

The five prospective Pheu Thai ministerial nominees are

  • Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai party-list MP, is set to become Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation.
  • Mr. Suriya Jungrungreangkit, a party leader, is expected to be Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
  • Mr. Julphan Amornwiwat, head of the Pheu Thai Party, will serve as Minister of Labor.
  • Mr. Prasert Chanruangthong, party secretary-general, will be Minister of Education.
  • Ms. Sutawan Wangsupakitkosol, a prominent figure from Nakhon Ratchasima, will serve as Minister of Social Development and Human Security.

The deputy minister positions remain unsettled, with three vacancies but seven candidates competing.

For the three deputy minister posts allocated to Pheu Thai, two are at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and one at the Ministry of Education. However, the final decisions are pending, with seven candidates awaiting the party leadership's final selection. They include

  • Mr. Patthana Sapso, MP for Sakon Nakhon, a political stronghold; his daughter is also an MP and his wife is the president of the provincial administrative organization.
  • Mr. Lertsak Patanchaiyagul, MP for Loei; though serving three terms, he is known for his agility and effective coordination with fellow MPs.
  • Mr. Supachai Nopkham, MP for Pathum Thani, serving two terms, who has persevered against the People's Party wave and competed against Ms. Chidchanok Puangpetch, daughter of former Pathum Thani provincial governor Mr. Chan Puangpetch, who moved to the Bhumjaithai Party.
  • Ms. Piyarat Tiyapairat, MP for Chiang Rai, serving two terms, who holds one of the few remaining Pheu Thai seats in the northern region despite multiple parties attempting to penetrate the area, leaving only three Pheu Thai MPs in upper northern Thailand.
  • Mr. Anusorn Iamsaard, Deputy leader of Pheu Thai and the party's main campaign spokesperson this time.

The other two candidates are from the central quota, comprising Mr. Sukit Srijomkwan, Pheu Thai party spokesperson, and Ms. Theerapa Phairohkul, former deputy secretary to the Prime Minister for political affairs. The Pheu Thai leadership will finalize who will take the deputy minister roles after further deliberation.
