Anutin Cabinet 2 Lineup: Pheu Thai Gets 5 Ministers Sutthawan Secures Ministry of Social Development, Somsak Excluded

The Anutin Cabinet 2 lineup, allocating 5 ministerial posts to the Pheu Thai Party, has been finalized with "Yotsanan, Suriya, Chulapan, Prasert, and Sutthawan" confirmed. Meanwhile, "Somsak" has been dropped from the list. The Deputy Minister seats remain unsettled, with 3 vacancies but 7 candidates in contention.


On 7 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters covered developments regarding the ministerial quota for the "Anutin Cabinet 2". The Pheu Thai Party secured 5 ministerial seats and 3 deputy minister positions. The 5 ministerial posts are largely settled, while the deputy minister roles remain unresolved. The name of Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, previously on the list, has now been removed.  

The 5 prospective ministers from Pheu Thai are

  • Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai party list MP, is preparing to serve as Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
  • Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, a party leader, is expected to be Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
  • Mr. Chulapan Amornwiwat, Pheu Thai party leader, is set to become Minister of Labour.
  • Mr. Prasert Chantraruangthong, Pheu Thai party secretary-general, will serve as Minister of Education.
  • Ms. Sutthawan Wangsupakitkosol, a prominent figure from Nakhon Ratchasima, is to become Minister of Social Development and Human Security.

The deputy minister positions remain unsettled, with 3 vacancies but 7 candidates competing.

Regarding the 3 deputy minister positions for Pheu Thai, 2 will be in the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and 1 in the Ministry of Education. However, the final decisions are not yet made. Seven candidates remain under consideration by party leaders:

  • Mr. Patthana Sapso MP for Sakon Nakhon, a stronghold in Sakon Nakhon with his daughter also an MP and his wife serving as provincial administrative organization chief.
  • Mr. Lertsak Patanachayakul MP for Loei, in his third term, known for his adept coordination with fellow MPs.
  • Mr. Supachai Nopkhum MP for Pathum Thani, serving two terms, who overcame challenges from the People’s Party and contested against Ms. Chidchanok Puangpetch, daughter of former Pathum Thani provincial chief, who shifted to the Bhumjaithai Party.
  • Ms. Piyaratch Tiyapairat MP for Chiang Rai, serving two terms, maintaining a Pheu Thai presence in a red zone despite multiple parties contesting the area; currently, only 3 Pheu Thai MPs remain in the upper northern region.
  • Mr. Anusorn Iamsaard Deputy leader of Pheu Thai and the party’s main spokesperson for this term.

The other two candidates are central quota picks, namely Mr. Sukit Srichomkwan Pheu Thai party spokesman, and Ms. Theerapa Phairohkul Former Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs. Party executives will finalize the list of deputy ministers to be appointed.
