“Chayika” Emphasizes “Pheu Thai” Party’s Commitment to Continuing Women’s Policies from the “Yingluck-Paethongtarn” Governments

Chayika emphasized that the Pheu Thai Party is ready to continue women’s policies from the Yingluck-Paethongtarn governments, enabling women and all genders to grow securely, live safely, and receive equal respect for their human dignity and rights.

On 8 March 2026, Ms. Chayika Wangnapacharn, former advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, spoke about the importance of International Women's Day and the Pheu Thai Party’s policies to create opportunities and enhance women’s quality of life. Over the years, progress has been seen in women's education, income, rights, and the strengthening of women’s networks. However, rapid global changes and conflicts have also transformed the nature of violence against women and all genders. Thailand has implemented significant policies that create opportunities and improve women’s lives concretely, stemming from the dedicated and continuous work of governments led by the Pheu Thai Party.

. The Women’s Role Development Fund initiated by the Yingluck government to help reduce economic inequality among women. Believing that if women cannot stand on their own feet, it is difficult to improve other aspects of their quality of life, this fund became a crucial starting point for creating opportunities, income, and empowerment for women nationwide. With a revolving fund budget of 100 million baht per province across 77 provinces, it has built a network of over 14 million women. Today, this policy continues under the Paethongtarn government with a revolving fund budget of 1.5 billion baht, further expanding to create new opportunities for young women through projects like “Empower Young Women,” which provides female students with entrepreneurship training to develop business models, take action, and recognize their potential as key drivers of Thailand’s economy and society. She expressed gratitude to the Community Development Department of the Ministry of Interior for sustaining such beneficial policies for women.

Additionally, under the Yingluck government, the concept of the “One Stop Crisis Center” (OSCC) was introduced to integrate assistance for victims of violence including children, women, and the elderly. This reflects that protecting women must go beyond rhetoric to become an accessible, timely, and adaptive system that addresses new forms of violence effectively.

Ms. Chayika noted that these are just two concrete examples of policies for women, and she believes the mission for women and all genders is ongoing. Many inequalities remain to be addressed in economic, social, legal, and protective systems that must function effectively.

Ms. Chayika added that, as a mother, she hopes for a society that offers more opportunities, safety, and fairness for her daughter and future generations. As a female political worker, she feels proud to have contributed to advancing women’s policies, believing that when one woman gains opportunity, it spreads strength and hope to many others, their families, and society at large. She expressed joy that the Pheu Thai Party’s leaders and executives are fully committed to continuing this mission, ensuring women and all genders have opportunities to grow securely, live safely, and receive equal respect for their human dignity.
