Prime Minister Emphasizes Rights, Equality, and Dignity of Women as Fundamental Foundations of Democratic Society

The Prime Minister emphasized that "rights, equality, and dignity of women" are essential foundations of a democratic society and sustainable development, encouraging Thai women to set examples for future generations.

On 8 March 2026, Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, delivered a speech on the occasion of International Women's Day 2026, stating that since 8 March is "International Women's Day", he extends good wishes to women across Thailand, including those working in women's development who have jointly been a vital force driving Thai society forward with quality progress. International Women's Day is not only a day of celebration but also a day established by the global community to remind everyone that "rights, equality, and dignity of women" are fundamental foundations of a democratic society and sustainable development.

Throughout history, women worldwide have fought to gain equal recognition within families, workplaces, and public arenas. Today is not just a remembrance of those struggles but a call to continue advancing tangible results. A strong society is one where everyone recognizes each other's value and supports incorporating those values into societal development.

This year, the government has set the main theme for International Women's Day as “Rights, Justice, and Women's Voices: Towards a Society That Leaves No One Behind,” reflecting a commitment to support women in standing equally and fully realizing their potential, with opportunities to participate in policymaking and the country's development direction.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Thai women possess great potential in all roles—whether as leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, farmers, workers in all professions, or as mothers and caregivers. Each role holds value and contributes to completing our society.

"On the occasion of International Women's Day, I wish all Thai women happiness, strong physical and mental health, confidence in their own worth, and to move forward with pride, serving as role models and inspiration for the girls who are our descendants, who will become an important force for our country's future."
