Democrat Party Empowers International Womens Day with “Hope to Her” Campaign to Restore Opportunities for Women Behind Bars

The Democrat Party empowers International Women's Day by launching the “Hope to Her” campaign to restore opportunities for women behind bars, allowing women who have made mistakes to regain their footing and stand proudly as pillars of their families and the economy.

On 8 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Mrs. Radkalao Intawong Suwankhiri, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party (DP), led the executive committee, including Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, party leader, Mr. Korn Chatikavanij, Mrs. Kandy Liaopairoj, deputy leaders, and former party MP candidates, to visit Klong Prem Women's Correctional Institution to launch the project. “Hope to Her: New Opportunities for Women, New Strength for Society.” The initiative promotes a model to restore dignity to women after release through proactive policies, including improving hygiene standards. Developing Executive Function (EF) skills for life management, and pushing legislation to “Erase Records, Create New Opportunities” to break down societal barriers of rejection, enabling women who have faltered to once again stand as dignified pillars of their families and the economy.

Mrs. Radkalao stated that the Democrat Party’s stance is to build a system that supports women in every role and sphere, because a sustainable society is one that leaves no one behind. The party focuses on transforming vulnerability into a driving force for the country through practical support mechanisms—not mere charity—but by creating equal and sustainable rights and freedoms across all aspects of womanhood. Additionally, the party created an online phenomenon with the campaign “Thanks My Demo Woman: Thank You for Being You.” This invited the public to share positive energy and thank women who inspire them via the Democrat Party’s Facebook page, receiving overwhelming responses from party members and the general public. Notably, Miss Thailand 2023, Ms. Chonnigan Supithayaporn (Karn), also participated in this event.

Party executives, leaders, and MPs united to demonstrate their support in empowering international women on this occasion.
