Ruamthai Sangchat Supports Law Protecting Victims of Domestic Violence

Sasikarn called for empowerment on International Women's Day, highlighting capabilities beyond gender, supporting laws to protect victims of domestic violence, aiming to sustainably reduce social problems, and emphasizing the need for serious advocacy.

On 8 March 2026, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanajan, deputy spokesperson for the Ruamthai Sangchat Party, spoke about International Women's Day, observed annually on 8 March. She said it is an important day that reminds society to recognize the roles, dignity, and capabilities of women and those with a feminine spirit in all aspects of society.

Ms. Sasikarn said we now live in an era where one's intelligence, ability, and potential are more important than gender roles, which are merely biological traits. What defines true value and equality for women and those with a feminine spirit is "their own potential." For International Women's Day 2026, she encouraged all women and those with a feminine spirit to take pride in themselves, maintain gentleness without weakness, and continually develop their potential to achieve their life goals every day.

Ms. Sasikarn added that if given the chance to promote women's policies, she would push for stronger laws and measures protecting victims of domestic violence. In reality, many families still have wives and children suffering abuse from husbands or fathers, turning what should be a warm, safe family environment into a place of fear. She emphasized that domestic violence impacts not only family members but also leads to wider social problems. Therefore, establishing a serious protection system to make families safe spaces for everyone is crucial and should be earnestly promoted in Thai society.
